The Fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers
The two brothers, Jakob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm (1786-1856) Grimm, known as "Grimm Brothers " are recognized as the most famous fairy tale authors in Germany. They collected fairy tales they had heard from people and wrote them down in their fairy tale books "Kinder- und Hausmärchen" (1812-1814). Little Red Riding Hood tells the story of a little girl dressed in a red cape and hood, who goes to visit her grandmother in the forest, but who gets swallowed up by the wolf. The fairy tale comes from the Romance spoken region. Grimm Brothers version is based on a French prototype, but the Grimm's gave it a happy ending compared to the original which was scary and unhappy.
