The Introduction of the EURO in Germany
The creation of the HERMANN-Coburg EURO Bear has a duel purpose. It is a farewell to the beloved German Mark and a symbol of confidence with the introduction of the new EURO.
"It's time to say goodbye". With the currency reform of June 20, 1948, the German Mark was created. Every citizen of the Western Zone received 40 Marks in cash. This was the beginning of the reconstruction of the economy and the prosperity in the West. Now it's time to say goodbye, a new star is born. With the EURO and its exchange rate of 1 EURO = 1,95583 DM a currency was born which leads Europe into the third millennium. By the year 2002 the DM will be a part of history. In its memory, one DM coin has been sewn into the right ear of the HERMANN-Coburg EURO Bear.
