In remembrance of the sunken Titanic on April 15, 1912
In the early morning hours of April 15, 1912, the Titanic along with its captain "Captain Smith" sank in icy waters after striking an iceberg. The Luxury Liner from the shipping company White Star Line was on its maiden voyage from South Hampton England to New York. Only 711 people from the total of 2,224 passengers and crew were saved. The sinking was even more tragic after the Titanic was declared unsinkable and was not built with adequate life rafts. Other ships that were called with the new emergency signal "SOS" - "Save Our Souls" approached the disaster zone too late. Extra-ordinary on the Titanic were its four chimneys from which only three were actively heated with boilers. The fourth was an inactive dummy. The reason behind this was to strengthen the belief and trust in the safety of the Luxury Steamer.
