Epoch Bears
The HERMANN Epoch bears invite you to take a journey through the history of mankind. "Oetzi" represents the Stone Age era - the oldest epoch of human culture. Over 10,000 years ago, primitive man - Homo sapiens - began to use simple wooden tools to make the earth resourceful. Oetzi, the glacier mummy, was found in 1991 in the Oetztaler Alps of Austria. For over 5000 years he was preserved in ice and now he provides valuable information about the lives of the first man on our planet. With "Perikles", the passage through time continues into the ancient age. The cultural elements of the Greek-Roman antiquity like astrology; philosophy and poetry became the intellectual basis of the Western Hemisphere. Perikles lived around 500 BC and was the first democratic statesman of Athens. A philosopher such as Sophokles was his close friend. With the construction of the Acropolis, Perikles made himself immortal. "Kunigunde", the damsel of the castle, finally brings our journey to the Middle Ages, which was the peak of Knighthood. The culture epoch of the Middle Ages, which started around the 5th-6th century and stretched into the 16th-17th century, was characterized through the spiritual attitude of Christianity and the church. While the Enlightenment spoke more of the grim Middle Ages, the Romantic describes the Middle Ages as an idealistic time of the religious, knightly community of the Christian Western Hemisphere.
