Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite
Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) is known as the founder of the Russian ballet tradition. One of his most famous pieces is the "The Nutcracker Suite" which premiered in St. Petersburg in 1892. Since then "The Nutcracker Suite" has become one of the most popular Christmas classics in the theater world. The story evolves around Clara, who receives a nutcracker from her godfather, Mr. Drosselmeyer, on Christmas Eve. With the nutcracker she travels in her dreams through the world of mystical creatures and toy figurines.
