The legend of Robin Hood
The legend of Robin Hood takes place during
King Richard Löwenherz reign (born 1157, reigned 1189-1199). The English
King Richard Löwenherz became famous through his closeness to the public
even though he only reigned for one year in England. Critics even question
his knowledge of the English language. As the leader of the Third Crusade
from 1190-92, he dreamt of the liberation of Jerusalem out of the hands of
Muslims, but he failed to break into the city. On his return journey he was
captured from Duke Leopold V of Austria. The legend of Robin Hood made King
Löwenherz immortal in literature and poetry. Robin Hood had been celebrated
in numerous ballads in the 14th and 15th century as a hero and a royalist
vassal. The old ballads portray Robinhood living in the Sherwood Forest,
in Nottinghamshire with his followers Lady Marian and Brother Tuck. There
he robbed the rich and divided the abundance among the poor. The legend of
Robin Hood is still contested by scholars today.

Die Deutsche Spielzeugstrasse -The German Toy Street
Coburg, Germany, hometown of the old
Sonneberger Max Hermann Bears and today's HERMANN-Spielwaren GmbH, lies directly
on the "Deutsche Spielzeugstrasse" ("German Toy Street"). The "Deutsche
Spielzeugstrasse" follows an old trading route starting in Nuremberg and
passing through Coburg and Sonneberg and leads to Leibzig where the old trading
fairs once took place. The trading route guaranteed smooth transportation
for the toys that had to reach customers around the world. For this reason,
toy makers settled close to the trading route as did the old Max Hermann
Teddy Bear Company. Even though German toys are today flown all around the
world, the historical toy industry is still located on the old trading route
between Nuremberg, Coburg, Sonneberg and Waltershausen.
