In the year 2000 HERMANN-Spielwaren GmbH celebrates its 80th anniversary in Coburg. The "80th Anniversary Bear"represents this special event. He is the most significant piece in this year's HERMANN-Coburg Collection. On the foot sole of the bear are the three important locations of the company's history. Max Hermann founded the company in 1920 in the small mountain village of "Neufang" in the middle of the Thuringia forest. In 1923 Max Hermann moved his company to Sonneberg back then known as the "Toy Capital of the World". There the small company experienced its first success. In Sonneberg, Max Hermann developed his green logo the "Bear with the Running Dog", which is still being used today. With the separation of Germany into West and East during World War II, the family settled in the West. Here in Coburg only 12 miles away from the old hometown, the HERMANN Bears with the green logo found their present home.
Pictured on the front cover is the "80th Anniversary Bear" and old black and white pictures from the HERMANN-Coburg archives. They show the company founder Max Hermann, pictures from the old Hermann teddy bear production in Sonneberg and an old show piece from the 1930's with the old Max Hermann logo "The Bear with the Running Dog" presented in a green triangle.
